Next Session in Family Engagement Lecture Series Slated for Tuesday, April 19th, 2011 from 5:00-7:30 PM - Topic: Overcoming Resistance & Denial


Decades  of research in both the medical and education fields, show that engaging parents in their children's treatment and education is key to positive outcomes. But, resistance and denial can be formidable barriers to successful family engagement.  Join us for dinner and dialogue on this important topic at our 2nd of 4 lectures in our Family Engagement series on Tuesday, April 19th from 5:00-7:30 PM at The Village Inn in Narragansett Pier. Stephanie Shepard Umaschi, PhD, and Rebecca Berger will be presenting.  Dr. Umaschi is Associate Professor in the Dept. of Psychiatry & Human Behavior, Alpert Medical School of Brown University and clinical psychologist at the Bradley Hospital Early Childhood Clinical Research Center.  Ms. Berger is a clinical research assistant at the Bradley/Hasbro Children's Research Center.  The two presenters will be discussing strategies for Overcoming Resistance & Denial:  Honoring family values and acknowledging past experiences.
